The “Ego” refers to the individual in the lower state of consciousness, being egoistic. Super-ego is even lower in state of consciousness. It is distinct from the “True Self” or “Great Self” who is in the higher state of consciousness i.e. an enlightened person.

In our articles and blogs, the “Ego” can be simply understood as the self before embarking on personal growth and development, the natural self. In psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud divided an individual’s consciousness into the Id, Ego, and Superego.
