The ID, Superego and Ego are proposed by psychoanalyst Freud’s structural theory:

  1. ID – is the primitive and instinctual part of the mind that contains sexual and aggressive drives and hidden memories,
  2. Super-Ego which operates as a moral conscience.
  3. Ego – is the realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego.

In metaphysical or philosophical understanding, the aforementioned ID and Ego have the same interpretation; while the True Self belongs to the higher three centers of consciousness, namely the spiritual consciousness. In Buddhism, they are referred to as the mind consciousness and the divine consciousness. Different perspectives and viewpoints can lead to different interpretations.
